I opened my company and picked a nice name. Why do I still need to register the trademark with INPI?

Registering the company with the Junta Comercial (Board of Trade) and registering the trademark with INPI (Brazil's patent and trademark office) are different things. The articles of association protect the CNPJ and the company name in commercial dealings. The trademark, no. Without registering with INPI, someone else can use your name or your logo in the same field, and even register it before you do. Then the problem becomes yours. At TF Con we keep this clearly separated: we handle the accounting side of your business and explain, plainly, when it's truly worth protecting your trademark.
